While owners are out of the home swiping on their phones, their cats can now actively chase a moving light spot on the floor. Pounce is a mobile-controlled, projection-based visual stimulation system designed to provide independent activity for indoor cats while bridging the gap between pets and working owners. It transforms the traditional, passive "just-for-watching" pet camera into an active, mobile-controlled, gamified, and cross-spatial interactive system.

Lack of Stimulation

Lack of Stimulation

100% of indoor cats sleep most of the day while left alone due to a lack of environmental stimuli.

Passive Technology

Passive Technology

40.9% of surveyed respondents are dissatisfied with current pet cameras because of the inability to effectively engage and interact with their cats.

Biological Insights

Biological Insights

Cats have a biological drive to chase unpredictably moving light spots (hunting instincts). Also, they are highly sensitive to the blue-violet and yellow-green color spectrums.

Our research revealed a clear market gap in feline environmental enrichment. Owners want more than passive watching. They want to actually play with their cats while away. Projection is ideal for this: it covers a larger play area and can display colors tuned to feline vision. This creates an opportunity to turn one-way watching into active, cross-spatial play.

System Ecosystem

Pounce operates through three components that connect the physical space with the remote user:
